Living in Copan

Located in the western highlands of Honduras near the Guatemalan border, Copan Ruinas (also known simply as Copan) is a lovely, quaint, safe, up-beat and very friendly colonial town within walking distance of the famous Mayan ruins. Although popular with tourists from around the world it never becomes overcrowded and always retains its small town charm and character.

The Espinoza family home is located right in the center of Copan town, within very short walking distance of everything! There are several small cafes, food stalls, restaurants, bars, and internet places along with the central plaza and town market virtually on the doorstep. This is definitely the ‘heart of things’ and you couldn’t ask for a more perfect location.

All rooms have private entrances and the family is very relaxed about students having guests over to visit and/or staying out until bars and restaurants close. As there are three spare rooms in the house, there may be other students, friends or family staying at the same time. However, as neither Nelly or her husband speak any English, you will definitely be communicating in Spainsh the majority of the time.
